Gallinula melanops crassirostris (J.E. Gray)

Length: 29 – 30 cms.

Head and upper part of the neck very dark blue –violet. The rest of the neck and breast changes to light grey and to white in the center of the abdomen. Black and wing coverts chestnut brown. Brown flanks with small white spots. Beak and front shield yellow green. Feet yellow green. Red iris.
