Phrygilus patagonicus (Lowe)

Length 15 – 16 cms.

Male, head, neck and upper breast dark bluish grey, like a hood. Around the beak and lorums blackish. Back olive – yellow with chestnut toner in most examples. Yellowish lower back. Breast and abdomen greenish yellow. Undertail coverts pale blue grey. Dark primaries. Coverts and tail dark blue grey.
