Long-tailed meadowlark
Sturnella loyca (Molina)
Length 26 – 28 cms.
Male head dark, white line above the eye until the nape. Red feathers in front of the eyes. Sides and back of neck dark. Mantle and lower back and tail brown with dull brown. Front of the neck, breast and upper abdomen bright red. Lower part of the abdomen dark brown. Female: red parts of the neck, breast, abdomen paler, and bordered by dirty white feathers.
